More than 1500 people are coming together from 8 Indian cities on 15th and 16th October, 2022, including Chandigarh, for cycling and plogging in a unique fun event with free plant- based food and fun activities, celebrating Asia Farm Animal Day (AFAD). In Chandigarh, this event called ‘Eat Green. Ride a bike. Love the Planet.’, will start at Student Center, Panjab University, covering a stretch of 10-15 kms with the cyclists making a pit stop to also engage in a cleaning drive (plogging) at Sukhana lake. The cyclathon will end at AJA grill Sec 9.

Organised by the Asia for Animals (AfA) Coalition, Samayu, A Just World (AJW), Citizens For Animals (CFA) and event partners Peedu’s people, AJA, Vegans of Chandigarh, Gunsberg, Native Green Foundation, The Happy Calf, The Indian Ploggers Army, and Robin Hood Army, they are creating awareness of how issues of environment, individual and public health, and animal well-being are threaded together. The event advocates a plant-based diet for a healthy and sustainable future.

Nearly 150 people participated in this event, displaying badges saying: “I Ride and Eat Right” and “I cycle for a Green Planet”. The event highlighted the power of individuals when they make sustainable and environmentally friendly choices using pollution free transport such as bicycles, making their city litter-free and eating a green diet that benefits animals, people and the planet. With talks from environmental, health, sports and animal protection enthusiasts, it was very inspiring to see communities with diverse interests joining hands for social impact.
