CNBC Network 18 is organizing Chandigarh leg of India Cyclothon on September 26, 2010 in association with Chandigarh Amateur Cycling association being affiliated unit of Cycling Federation of India. Each of the past editions of India Cyclothon has had over 6,000 participants across various ride categories and a similar turnout is expected in Chandigarh.
The Registration for the Hero Cycles Chandigarh Cyclothon has already begin and interested person can register to take part in various Cyclothon events online as well in person at prominent spots in city beautiful
The highlight of the event will be a 60 km National Elite Race that will see the nation’s top cyclists competing for prize money. The National Elite Race will begin at 6:30 a.m.
The other event comprises multiple categories -- the Go Air Corporate ride of 20 km, the LG Green ride of 10 km, the Amateur ride of 20 km and the Kids ride for children between the ages of 8 and 13 spanning 5 km. The event proves to be the big draw with thousands turning out to pedal on the roads to proclaim their support for greener and cleaner urban spaces. It will have participants from all walks of life including amateur cyclists, cycling enthusiasts, working professionals, housewives and school children, thus adding colour and festivities to the whole event.
The event has already roped in multiple partners in LG, sponsors of the popular Green Ride, Go Air, the sponsors of the Corporate Ride and Café Coffee Day and Big FM who would be amplifying the buzz around the event. Interested participants can also register at Café Coffee Day outlets at Chandigarh, Panchkula and Mohali and avail an offer of getting a free on spot cappuccino at their outlets.
