Sh. Parminder Singh Dhindsa, Cabinet Minister-PWD (B&R), Government of Punjab inaugurated the 62nd Senior, 39th Junior, 25th Sub-Junior National Track Cycling Championships on 13th January 2009, Professor Jaspal Singh, Vice Chancellor Punjabi University, Patiala presided over the inauguration function. A Large number of VIP’s and University officials witnessed the opening ceremony parade of participating teams and cycling events in the morning session. Sh. Parminder Singh Dhindsa expressed his good wishes to participants and also announced a financial assistance of Rs. One lakh for the organisation of the Championships and promised all support for warm hospitality to the participants.
Sh. Manpreet Singh Badal, cabinet Minster-Finance and Planning & Program gave away the prizes to winners on the closing ceremony. Mr. Badal interacted with the winners and players from different states and congratulated them on their success and applauded the efforts of organising committee for conducting the Championships in a befitting manner. Sh. Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa, Member of Parliament &Former Cabinet Minister and President of Cycling Federation of India also presided during the Championships and personally ask for making better training facilities for budding cyclists.
